You’re Invited to our Fall Harvest!
Join us throughout September and help us harvest the barley fields Eau Claire Distillery uses to make their horsed farmed whisky! A true farm to glass experience!
Important Note: As with all farming, this day is subject to weather conditions. Long sleeves, trousers and gloves recommended.
Binding and Stooking – September 2nd – Bar U Ranch National Historic Site – 10:00am to 3:00pm
Help us stook our fields! The Harvest invites participants to gather sheaves of barley grain cut by horse-drawn vintage farm gear in preparation for threshing. The process is called stooking and it protects and dries unthreshed grain from inclement weather elements – often ominous in Alberta. Field side lunch provided.
Threshing – September 22nd – Bar U Ranch National Historic Site – 10:00am to 3:00pm
The stooked bundles are gathered by volunteers on horse drawn hay racks and transported to the 1920’s era threshing machine, where the grain is separated from the straw. Pitchforks provided.
October 13th – Driving Clinic
One more time before the snow flies! (Really?) One Day Only – $195. Team and single driving! This about the 21st year we have put on this clinic and it’s hugely popular – just ask the folks who took this clinic in the spring – so register early. Limited class size.
